The Maple Menopause Bookshelf: 22 Books Worth Reading

There are approximately eleventy-billion books promising to fix menopause, balance your hormones, flatten your belly and transform you into a glowing midlife goddess by Tuesday. We have some thoughts.

This is an editorial shelf, not a claim that every author represents medical consensus. The evidence-oriented medical books are here for biology and treatment context; practical books are here for usable exercises or decisions; memoir and perspective belong here when they illuminate midlife rather than prescribe it. You do not need them all. Pick the shelf that answers the question you are asking now—and treat a compelling author as a starting point, not a substitute for checking the evidence.

What we are not putting on the bookshelf

A book does not become evidence-based because someone put a stethoscope on the cover. We are wary of promises to “balance” undefined hormones, detox estrogen, reset metabolism, melt menopause belly, reverse menopause, cure “adrenal fatigue” or replace appropriate care with supplements. We will also say when an otherwise useful author makes claims deserving more skepticism. Affiliate commission does not buy a good review.

Books provide general information and should not replace individualized medical or mental-health care. Formats, prices and availability may change; check the Amazon.ca listing.
